I was going to replace my existing copy of AbiWord by installing a newer version into the same directory, thus overwriting the old one. What I didn't realize was that my older version of AbiWord was running at the time. Half way through the installation, the installer brought up an error message stating something like "Attempt to write file '...\AbiWord.exe' failed." After I pressed Okay, the installer continued. When it was finished it said "The software has been successfully installed on your computer." What it comes down to is that AbiWord didn't install successfully, but it told me it did. I'm not sure if there are other ways to reproduce this bug.

version 0.9.4 for windows uses a new installer from Nullsoft please reopen if this is still a problem
The new installer does not handle this particularly gracefully but it handles it nonetheless it give a write failure warning and you can then cancel the install.
