Description:   Opened: 2000-06-19 12:56
I can't even begin to guess about this one, so I'll just list the steps I made:

* Start AbiWord
* Open the paragraph dialog
* Click on some input field to make it active, e.g. the "Indentation By" one.
* Click on some non-AbiWord-related window to give it focus.

When I try to give focus back to AbiWord it appears to be completely stuck, to
the point where it neither repaints its windows, nor allows me to move them
around.

I should be able to test this under Linux as well. No promises, though.

------- Comment #1 From frigidrage@yahoo.com 2000-07-05 11:07:59 -------
I couldn't reproduce this bug using the above steps, but here are some that
lead
to perhaps the same problem:

* Start AbiWord
* Open the paragraph dialog
* Keep pressing the up arrow on the "Indentaion Left" field until AbiWord
freezes up (after about 7.7in or 20.0cm)

I then have to use task manager to close AbiWord ("End Task").

My steps don't really have anything to do with losing focus, but if you do give
focus to another window then AbiWord, it shows the same behavior (neither
repaints its windows, nor allows me to move them around).

------- Comment #2 From torbjorn@dev.eurotime.se 2000-09-17 09:58:59 -------
I can still reproduce this behaviour in 0.7.11, I'm afraid.

------- Comment #3 From torbjorn@dev.eurotime.se 2001-02-08 09:06:59 -------
I had almost forgotten I submitted this bug report. I can still reproduce it in
0.7.12. Unfortunately I have neither the tools nor the expertise to write up a
better bug report than this.

------- Comment #4 From Dom Lachowicz 2001-02-23 14:24:59 -------
I can't reproduce this bug using 0.7.13 on win2k

------- Comment #5 From karl@huftis.org 2001-03-11 02:44:59 -------
I can reproduce this in a current nightly on Win98.

------- Comment #6 From Drew 2001-05-11 14:42:41 -------
system = P2 266 128RAM Win95
Abi = installed from Setup_Abiword-0.7.14.exe downloaded 4/24/01

I cannot reproduce the behavior described. I took the indentation to over 200
inches and Abi never crashed or froze.

------- Comment #7 From Tim 2001-07-12 22:09:58 -------
Cannot reproduce on 7.14 with Win2K. Marking as FIXED. Since others cannot
reproduce as well, I will also close it.

------- Comment #8 From torbjorn@dev.eurotime.se 2001-08-01 11:50:03 -------
Unfortunately, I can still reproduce it with 0.9.0 on Windows 98. And not just
in the paragraph dialog; the input fields on the Plugin Details tab of the
AbiWord Plugin Manager dialog behaves the same way. I.e. if I click on one, then
make another (non-AbiWord-related) window active, AbiWord hangs.

For a while I thought this meant there was some generic problem with input
fields, but then I noticed that I *couldn't* reproduce it with, say, the Tabs
dialog. So now I'm clueless again.

------- Comment #9 From torbjorn.e.andersson@tietoenator.com 2001-10-31 12:33:32 -------
I can still reproduce this with 0.9.4.1 on Windows 98: I start AbiWord, open
the
Format Paragraph dialog, and click on any of the editable parts of it (combo
boxes, data fields, check boxes, ...). Then I give focus to a non-AbiWord
window, e.g. Notepad, and when I go back to AbiWord it's stuck.

If I remove focus from the combo box/data field/check box (by bringing up the
other tab) before giving focus to Notepad, it works. No hang.

I've gone through all the other dialogs that I've been able to find, and the
only other one which I can get to hang this way is the Preference dialog. (I
used to be able to hang the Plugins dialog, but apparently no longer.) Could it
be related to tabbed dialogs somehow?
Anyway, from my point of view this bug should still be open.

------- Comment #10 From MPritchett@attglobal.net 2002-01-01 17:11:13 -------
This is a problem for OS older than Win98SE due to a DS_CONTROL style for
tabbed dialogs. I have removed that style for tabbed dialogs. This appears to
clear up this hanging issue

------- Comment #11 From torbjorn.e.andersson@tietoenator.com 2002-02-04 11:37:06 -------
I am no longer able to reproduce this bug in a snapshot build from January 30,
so I'll stop pestering you about it now. Thanks!

------- Comment #12 From A.J. Holz 2002-03-12 16:05:01 -------
This bug has been at QA TO VERIFY for awhile - I verified that it is fixed with
0.99.2 on both Win95B and Win98 today, can't get it to crash in either the
Paragraph dialog or the Plugin Manager dialog. Also, looks like the original
submitter confirmed the fix on 2002-02-04 so we can most likely consider this
issue closed.
