AbiWord recognizes what language should be used. OK. But why doesn't it suggest
a proper paper format, and measure unit as well? At least on my system, it
deosn't. I get "letter" as standard, although i would like it to be "A4". Also
it sets the measure units to "inches" in stead of "cm's".
Furthermore, it should be possible to manually switch between system languages.

AbiWord does do this for about 40 different locales. If your locale isn't in
this following list, then please reopen a *new* bug saying that we don't have
proper default settings for your locale (and please list your locale). If your
locale *is* here, please reopen this bug, saying that your locale is 'XX-YY'
and you're running the XYZ operating system, and we'll look into it. Closing
as invalid for the moment, but hoping that something new will get opened...

But what about having the option to switch the language used in AbiWord?
This would ease bug reporting, since one could check the exact English menu
terms.

Was about to anwser the same thing. CLOSING.

------- Comment #4 From Dom Lachowicz 2001-11-02 13:28:13 -------
Change your system locale to en-US under windows - this is how one normally
changes the language of any normal piece of software. For unix, all you have
to do is LANG=de_DE abiword to get AbiWord in german, for instance. And you
*still* haven't said what your locale is...

Oh, sorry. I'm Norwegian.
I'm gonna try.

------- Comment #6 From Hubert Figuiere 2002-10-04 18:23:04 -------
Changing version from 0.9.0..0.99.5 to pre-1.0 to reduce version cluttering.
All
of these versions are considered obsolete too.
