ispell checker code should be rewritten. It is ugly and hard to maitain.

This is usually about the time when Kevin Atkinson says
"use pspell + aspell instead"

If ispell is so ugly, why not put it out of your misery?

I'm closing this as "wontfix." After my+thomasf's work here, no one 
should ever have to dig down into this. No one is interested in updating the 
ispell code, and I don't blame them. We already support Aspell too, so we 
could easily transition over either way.
