There is no way to remove a footer or header. Here is the way I think it should be done: Get rid of "edit footer" and "edit header" menus since the user can edit them directly. make a "Add/Remove footer" and "Add/Remove" header in format menu that will add or remove it.

I want to emphasize that i expected to find Add Header/Footer in the Insert Menu As far as im concerned being able to remove the Header/Footer is another issue, if i did not want it i would just remove all the text contained in the Header/Footer [Copied from bug 1585] The Insert menu should contain Header/Footer item, either as well as or instead of Edit Header, Edit Footer. I beleive this would be helpful as Microsoft Word uses Insert, Footnote. P.S. Is Footer a proper word?
Footer is not a Footnote Footer is the header counter part, but at the bottom of the page Footnote is a note that is at the bottom of the page that the text above references... This is quite different from what we are talking about
setting milestone to 1.0.0 as this is an trivial but important usabillity issue that does not implies implementing core feature but only FE.
As mentiontened earlier in this bug, if i did not want a header i would delete all the text in it. So please dont write a header/footer if it is empty (empty not necessarily the same as null).
Martin committed the feature to CVS.
This is fixed in 0.9.2 (Windows version anyway). There are two toolbar buttons, one each for removing the header and footer. They seem to work OK. Taking the liberty of setting this bug to closed. John Selby.
