Clicking to the combo edit field does not change the keyboard focus. The effect is that typing still insert text in the frame instead of changing the editable value in the combo. Perhaps this bug is in XP rather than in Gnome only, but I currently do use the gnome version.
The combo boxes aren't editable *very much* on purpose. Making them editable is a one-line change. IIRC, I don't think that the GTK+ or Win32 versions have editable combo-boxes either (can't speak for the other platforms). I do *not* want people to input any old value in the combo boxes. Allowing someone to type 'z' in the font-size combo would be bad. Adding filtering for inputs would be tough to do (due to our creation mechanism), but wholly possible, but now I am 100% against this behavior unless someone convinces me otherwise.
So why does the combox box have selectable text and blinking cursor ? How can they get focus if they are not supposed to ?
This doesn't happen with me using the Gnome build. The combo boxes never get focus or a cursor, and the document never loses focus or the curso. I can't speak for the GTK+ build, but that's a different issue.
This is a duplicate of 1235: we should be able to edit the combo box content value. Just to add more weight to bug 1235. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 1235 ***
